Fans of BTS, today’s hottest K-Pop boy band, will be pleased to know that they were recently signed as LG’s global mobile ambassadors. The brand is banking on the band to help reinvent their image for their smartphone line. BTS, also known as Bangtan Sonyeondan and Beyond the Scene, was named one of Time Magazine’s 25 Most Influential People on the Internet for 2017. They were also the first K-Pop group to receive the “Top Social Artist” honors at the Billboard Music Awards. We can expect this widely popular Korean pop band to appear in a series of TV ads and social media campaigns for LG’s mobile devices – just in time for the release of their flagship smartphone which should be happening soon.
The musical group has a massive fanbase, not just in South Korea but across Asia, the United States, Europe, and South America. In the Philippines, the boy band has a huge following among millennials and music lovers. Last year, the clamor for their concert tickets caused the ticketing website to crash many times. Needless to say, the concert was sold-out.
“BTS achieved international superstardom through raw talent, innovation and authenticity even though many gave them little chance of real success,” says Kim Su-young, vice president and head of marketing for LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “These qualities make BTS a great match with our smartphone brand, and we hope to be able to convey to the global audience that LG mobile devices are also about delivering bold innovation with a unique attitude.”
We can expect the collaboration between LG and BTS to reflect the colorful personalities of each of the group’s members. We look forward to a campaign that will highlight the group’s talent, attitude and LG’s focus on innovation.
