2015 Moto E Getting Marshmallow Update After All

Good news for Moto E owners (not all of you though)

Remember a few months ago when Motorola said that their 2015 Moto E wouldn’t be getting Marshmallow? Well, we have good news for Moto E owners – Motorola has seen the light, and will be providing the update after all, joining the ranks of the Moto X, Moto X Pure Edition, Moto X Style and Moto X Play.

Moto E (2015) specs

  • 1.2GHz Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor
  • 1GB of RAM
  • 4.5-inch IPS qHD display, 540 x 960 resolution
  • 8GB of storage, expandable via microSD
  • Dual-SIM
  • 3G, LTE
  • WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS
  • Android Lollipop
  • 2390mAh battery

The most recent Moto E was a good device overall but we found during our review that it was eclipsed by the Android One offering of Cherry Mobile, specifically the One G1, despite having a lower price tag.

Anyway, 2015 Moto E owners in Canada, Latin America, Europe and Asia (except China, sorry guys) can rest easy now knowing that they’ll be eventually getting the update, though when that update is going to drop is unknown as of now – that’s all up to Motorola.
