Here’s a better, more powerful version of the Jade!

Remember Acer’s Liquid Jade? That beautiful but ultimately flawed smartphone we reviewed a few months back? Well, the Taiwanese company has officially made a follow-up that pairs a better processor. Aptly named the Liquid Jade S, the revamped device now flaunts MediaTek’s latest MT6752 64-bit 1.5GHz octa-core processor to replace the woefully dated MT6582 1.3GHZ quad-core deal on the original.

Acer Liquid Jade S

  • 1.5GHz MediaTek MT6752M octa-core processor
  • Mali-T760 GPU
  • 2GB of RAM
  • 5-inch IPS HD display with Zero Air Gap, 1280 x 720 resolution
  • 13-megapixel rear camera with f/1.8 aperture
  • 2-megapixel front camera
  • Dual-SIM
  • 3G, LTE
  • WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, A-GPS
  • 2300mAh battery
  • Android 4.4 KitKat
  • 143 x 69 x 7.78 mm

The new processor also brings LTE connectivity to the previously 3G only device, and Acer’s seen fit to bump the battery ever so slightly up to 2,300mAh compared to the previous 2100mAh unit on the old one. Acer’s also not messing with the rather beautiful 5-inch IPS HD display that’s been fitted with the company’s Zero Air Gap tech, as well as the 13-megapixel rear camera with f/1.8 aperture.

Acer is pricing the new Liquid Jade S at TWD 6,990, or around Php 9967. Hopefully Acer sticks to this price scheme as the original Jade was woefully overpriced, especially considering the hardware that’s in it. One can only hope.
