We unbox the Alcatel One Touch Idol Ultra!
We finally got our hands on a unit of the Alcatel One Touch Idol Ultra! This is a pretty fascinating and exciting gadget for several reasons. First it was used in the blockbuster hit, Iron Man 3. Second it’s considered to be one of the slimmest smartphones in the world measuring just 6.45mm thick. Lastly it won’t leave a burning hole in your wallet since it retails for just Php14,990. Devices like the Idol Ultra are more about the statement it makes as opposed to the tech specs so this will definitely appeal to people who put a lot of value in form, design, and style.
Let’s quickly review the specifications first:

Okay with that out of the way let’s proceed to the unboxing! Booyah! 😛
Iron Man on the Box!
The Idol Ultra came in a white box with a plastic slip-on featuring Iron Man. The box itself has the usual stuff printed on it like the product specifications at the back. We removed the plastic slip-on, popped open the top lid of the box, and were immediately greeted with the sleek Idol Ultra. The screen had some sort of plastic with print on it.
We picked the phone up and we were just amazed at the level of craftsmanship put into the phone. Alcatel definitely went all out on this one and that’s to be expected of them considering this phone makes an appearance on Iron Man 3. Anyway, the phone is primarily made out of plastic and some polycarbonate material with a smooth matte finish at the back. It’s crazy thin at 6.45mm and it’s also lightweight. It was a absolute pleasure holding it in our hands.
Check out some of the photos in different angles below:
As you saw in the last pic, there’s no audio-in. They probably thought it was too big so they decided to scrap it. To connect this to your headphones or earphones you’ll have to use the microUSB to audio converter which they also included in the box. It’s a bit of a chore but that’s the price for extreme thinness.
When it comes to form, style, and design, the Alcatel One Touch Idol Ultra will not disappoint!
What else is in the box?
Other than the microUSB/Audio converter cable all the other accessories in the box are standard fare. You get the wall charger, manuals, and the micro USB to USB cable.
Full Review Coming Soon!
We’re going to test drive this phone for the next few days so that we can have a full review out by early next week. So far though the Ultra Idol looks very promising. It’s the type of gadget that you love holding in your hands because it looks so good, haha!
Congratulations to Alcatel for shipping the One Touch Idol Ultra!
