AMD’s Dirt-cheap Athlon 3000G Can Be Overclocked

Performance gains without breaking the bank

Aside from the Ryzen 9-3950x and the third-generation Threadripper processors, AMD also introduced a new Athlon processor with the 3000G. The budget processor comes with integrated Radeon Vega 3 graphics, and is the only processor in its price segment that is unlocked—you can overclock the Athlon 3000G to 3.9Ghz with minimal change in CPU temperature.

By overclocking the Athlon 3000G, AMD claims better performance in Adobe Photoshop and Premiere compared to Intel’s Pentium G5400—priced several dollars more than AMD’s offering.

Other key specs of the Athlon 3000G include 2 cores and 4 threads, 3.5Ghz base clock frequency, and a 35w TDP CPU design. It will be available starting November 19 for $49(~Php 2.5k).
