Asus ZenPower 10050C: Make It A Part of Your Every Day Carry

Power banks. Yes. Power banks.

Talking about power banks is a little on the unsexy side of the tech scene but we all have to admit that it is an essential part of anyone’s Every Day Carry or EDC if you will. As you can imagine, we have an assortment here an Unbox HQ from the slim and sleek to the ones with bigger charging capacities that are a little cumbersome. For our recent Taiwan trip, our friends over at Asus handed us one of their newer power banks — the Asus ZenPower 10050C — and, boy, did it ever come in handy when we were covering the Computex floor.

What Is It?

Well, it’s a power bank. However, what makes it special is that it has a USB-C port for both providing power to your smartphone or to the device itself and it supports Quick Charge 3.0 (QC 3.0) via this port too. If you’re not familiar with the tech jargon that essentially means that if your smartphone has quick charging capabilities, you’ll top up it up faster and the power bank itself will be juiced up in no time as well. The 10050mAh capacity means that you can top up most devices at least twice (depending on its battery size, of course) and the two USB-A ports allow you to connect even more devices should some of your friend’s phones need a bit of pick-me-up too.

In terms of portability, it’s pretty much the same form factor as other power banks from the Taiwanese brand that provides the same amount of charges. It weighs in at 230 grams, which is just slightly heftier than the Zenfone 5Z but can still fit in your pants pocket. It’s found a nice home in the bag I personally carry around for event coverage and takes the place of one of its predecessor — the ZenPower Pro.

How Much Is It?

The Asus ZenPower 10050 C has been given a price tag of Php 1,795; a bit of a huge step up if you’re comparing the price to the standard power bank the Taiwanese brand offers. We do, however, think that it’s worth the money. Especially, if you’re a heavy user who needs a quick way to top up their smartphone when you’re on-the-go and have the confidence that your power bank will be at full capacity lickety-split as well.
