End of an Era: Microsoft Says Adios to Windows 10 Mobile

Windows Mobile no more

Roughly a year after it has ended support for Windows 8.1 Mobile, Microsoft is officially making Windows Mobile extinct by ending its support for Windows 10 Mobile.

In its End of Support FAQ, Microsoft said that “Windows 10 Mobile users are no longer eligible to receive new security updates, non-security hotfixes, free assisted support options, or online technical content updates from Microsoft for free” by December 10, 2019. On top of that, device backups will be valid up to March 10, 2020.

With this development, Microsoft recommends Windows 10 users to switch to Android or iOS.

Windows Mobile has been practically dead in the water in recent years. The last Windows 10 Mobile update was on April 25, 2017 with the Creators Update 1703 and Fall Creators Update 1709.
