Huawei Rolls Out EMUI 9.0 and Android Pie to the P10

The last major update for the 2017 flagship?

After updating the Mate 10 and P20 series to Android Pie, there are reports in Malaysia that the P10 is getting Android Pie as well. Being a 2017 flagship, this will be the second major update for the P10, since it originally shipped with Android Nougat out of the box.

Weighing in at around 3.4GB, the update brings in most—if not all—of the features found on the official Android Pie build for the P20 and Mate 10 series. These include Digital Balance, faster app launch times, and better resource management.

The update does not include GPU Turbo, which most likely means that Huawei’s performance-enhancing tech is exclusive to Kirin 970 and newer processors. However, Huawei may change their minds, so we will have to just wait and see. GPU Turbo aside, it is nice of Huawei to ensure owners of their 2017 flagship get the update, and we hope other brands may follow suit.

  1. Good for Huawei. If Samsung would’ve been a little less greedy I may have considered them for my next opgrade. Not anymore!

  2. Fake news. It’s more like beta testers of EMUI 9.0 on their P10 series, considering that it has “log” on the description. The real EMUI 9.0 for the P10 Series will arrive on around March.
