At last it’s coming!

A few months ago a rumor surfaced about chipmaker MediaTek finally pushing a KitKat update for their prolific line of SoCs, and today GizChina is reporting that Chinese phone maker Elephone has managed to get first dibs. Elephone , much like most China-based smartphone brands, use MediaTek’s SoCs so it’s only natural to expect other brands (which include local brands as well) to offer Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade sooner rather than later.

Elephone is offering the update for two phones as of now – the P8 and the P9, both of which use MediaTek’s octa-core processor. It’s only natural that MediaTek go from the top and work their way down, and hopefully they release the KitKat update for their quad-core offerings as well since it’s usually the SoC of choice for many of the devices that local brands sell.
