While Apple is aggressively pushing trackpads and touch-based interfaces there are other companies who are leading innovation in legacy products like the mouse. LG announced the LG LSM-100 mouse during CES 2011 and it’s scheduled to be fully launched in Berlin during the IFA Trade Show this coming September.

The LG LSM-100 has the usual two buttons and wheel but it also has a Smart Scan button. If you press and hold this button the mouse can scan and save under different file types like JPEG, PNG, and even PDF. What’s even more amazing is that it can convert scanned text into editable Word documents.

There’s no word yet on pricing and date of availability. I will definitely be getting one of these when it becomes available here in the Philippines.
