Mid-Range Phone Face Off: vivo V11 vs Honor 8X

Mid-Range Phone Face Off: vivo V11 vs Honor 8X

Can it match more expensive mid-range phones?

While the Honor 8X ticks all the must-haves for a mid-range smartphone, we think that it can duke it out against other mid-rangers that are on the higher end of the price spectrum. One of these phones is Vivo’s V11, which is priced at Php 19,999.

With a Php12,999 price, does the Honor 8X have a fighting chance against the V11?

Build

While the V11 has a stunning gradient back, the Honor 8X’s two-toned back is superior with its metal and glass build. Even if the V11 is made of polycarbonate, it is just as durable and as premium-looking as the Honor 8X.

Internals

Since the V11 uses an underclocked Snapdragon 660 processor, its performance is at par with the Honor 8X’s Kirin 710 processor. As for RAM and storage options, the V11 has the advantage for having 6GB RAM on board, while you have the option for 128GB internal storage on the Honor 8X.

As for gaming performance, both did well in our gaming tests. Check out our gaming reviews for both phones below:

Display

While the Honor 8X has a bigger display and a hideable notch, the V11’s AMOLED panel produces deeper blacks, and has a brighter display compared to the Honor 8X. In addition, it comes with an Always On Display feature and an In-display fingerprint scanner—the V11’s main feature.

Battery

While both have fast charging, the Honor 8X has a bigger 3750mAh battery that should last longer than the V11’s 3400mAh cell. Even if the V11 has a smaller battery, it can last a day with moderate use.

Cameras

While the V11 has a better depth-sensing camera, the Honor 8X has a better primary camera—at least on paper—with its 20-megapixel f/2.8 sensor. Both phones come with AI tricks that help in improving the processing of images depending on the scenery.

Pricing

Considering the V11 is Php 8,000 more expensive than the Honor 8X, the latter does have a fighting chance against the former—especially if you prefer the good ‘ol rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.
