Huawei is preparing for its next foldable device
It has been roughly a year since Huawei debuted its Mate X foldable device at MWC 2019. Last September, Huawei did file a patent with the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) for a foldable device with a stylus—which is said to be the upcoming Mate X2.
Recently, a new patent filing with the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) reveals more about the possible Mate X2.
Aside from the addition of a stylus, the patent filing shows the device folding inwards like the Galaxy Fold instead of outwards. In addition, this upcoming foldable ups the camera count to six: two in the vertical sidebar, and four at the back. With its new design, this one has a secondary display at the vertical sidebar.
We haven’t heard from Huawei if they will launch a new foldable device this year, so we expect more news about it in the coming months.
