Qualcomm Announces 3rd-Generation Snapdragon X60 5G Modem

It is based on a 5nm process

While brands are working towards introducing their first 5G phones in the Philippines and in other countries, Qualcomm announced its third-generation 5G modem with the Snapdragon X60.

The 5G modem is made using a 5nm process, giving it up to 7.5 Gbps download and 3Gbps upload speeds, along with support for both mmWave and sub-6Ghz 5G networks. The Snapdragon X60 modem comes with Qualcomm’s dynamic spectrum sharing (DSS), which allows for repurposing LTE bands for better network speeds and to accelerate 5G deployment further. There’s also support for Voice over new radio (VoNR), which is a step up from VoLTE where 5G networks are utilized to deliver better voice services.

Completing the Snapdragon X60’s feature set is Qualcomm’s QTM535 mmWave antenna module, which has a smaller footprint compared to the previous generation.

The Snapdragon X60 5G modem is expected to appear on devices by early 2021.
