Qualcomm Teases the Snapdragon 835 Ahead of CES 2017

The CES 2017 trade show kicks off in Las Vegas on January 5, 2017. SoC manufacturing leader Qualcomm aims to steal the spotlight there with the showcase of their newest flagship chipset – the Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor.

Qualcomm’s next top-tier SoC features new innovations and marked improvements from its predecessors. The new chipset will come with Quick Charge 4, the latest version of the technology, which Qualcomm claims has the ability to charge a phone from 0 to 50% in 15 minutes. The Snapdragon 835 comes with power delivery and power usage optimizations, as well as improvements in thermal dissipation.

Qualcomm’s octa-core Snapdragon 835 will be rated at 2.2GHz and will be armed with the new Adreno 540 graphics unit. The newest Adreno GPU boasts up to 30% more processing power and 40% more efficiency than the earlier Adreno 530.

We’ll find out in a few days which upcoming flagship devices will be packing Qualcomm’s newest and meanest chipset. Current rumor mill gossip points to Xiaomi’s Mi6 and LG’s G6 as possible candidates, but rumors will be rumors.
