Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 Charges Your Phone From 0 To 80% in 35 Minutes

Qualcomm Quick Charge

No need to stand around waiting

Aside from faster LTE speeds, Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon processors have something else you may want: fast charging. While the fast charging tech isn’t new, version 3.0 has improved performance over the old standard. Qualcomm is promising that Quick Charge 3.0 will be able to bring a phone from 0% to 80% in just 35 short minutes.

That charging time is 38% faster than version 2.0 of the tech, and Qualcomm says that it doesn’t stop there. The new tech is also smarter, and is able to provide 200mV increment charging from 3.6V to 20V, allowing the phone to dictate exactly how much voltage it needs to reach the desired charge current, which reduces the energy lost during transfer, minimizing heat and increasing a battery’s overall lifetime.

The new charging tech will show up in Qualcomm’s newest SoCs, including the Snapdragon 820, 620, 618, 617 and 430.
