Quick Camera Comparison: Cherry Mobile Flare 4 VS. Alcatel Flash 2

DSC07477

Which one is better?

Yesterday you saw our first shots with the Cherry Mobile Flare 4, and today we’ll be doing a quick comparison of the photos taken with the Flare 4 with the same photos taken with the Alcatel Flash 2. Why the Flash 2? Well, save for minor things like battery capacity and overall styling, the two phones are almost identical in spec. Cherry Mobile did not tell us the supplier of the camera module for the Flare 4, so it’s even more interesting to see the results. Check them out below:

All photos were taken using the respective phones’ camera app with all settings on auto. If you want to see the full resolution photos, we’ve uploaded them as RAR files – go here for the Flash 2, and here for the Flare 4. We’re still working on our full review of the Flare 4, so keep tuned to find out what we think of the device next week.

      1. malamang yellowish, yellow lightnings jan sa place ee, true colors result ng photos ni af2, while flare 4 ay nka white balance.. :3

  1. Selfie camera of AF2 has autofocus issues. If you look and visit Alcatel Flash 2 official group, the clamor is with the autofocus issues with AF2.
They said that if you pose for selfie a shot eye level, it is OK, but when you take a selfie angled above or below eye level, everything gets blurry. Not sure though, just reporting this problem, I was thinking of buying AF2 until I heard that issue

  2. What hell happened in the last picture? AF2 looks very fake to me, it’s like edited in Instagram with that yellowish tint but gives brightness in picture.

Flare 4 is pretty much normal. Normal like what you see in the naked eye but not enough brightness.

    They’re good phones nonetheless.

  3. looking at those photos, i thank my lucky stars i got the AF2. I’m in awe just how accurate the colors were to the what my own eyes see. If you’re into photography (and I don’t mean selfie) AF2 is the better buy.

  4. I have af2 and Im very disappointed with the camera, to think that it’s advertised as a camera phone. Photos are somewhat yellowish, have some focus and exposure issues, sometimes shots are blurred especially in low light. Even video recording has a lot of noise and its very noticeable. Though in a well lit environment, af2 gives crisp images. I think alcatel needs to push some updates and fix those camera issues.

  5. Yung kulay ng photo naayos namn..pro ung detail.waging wagi si alcatel.warm side yung image nya while cold yung sa cherry..

  6. Doesn’t the lighting of the place has something to do with that? Manual white balance does the trick anyway so you can’t be bothered with it in the first place. For me I find the warm colored pictures more appealing, it makes good ambiance specially the ones taken indoors it really blends well.

  7. As a photography enthusiast (have a Canon DSLR and a few lenses + external flashes, and also have done some work on Photoshop/picture editing; also i don’t have either of these phones), I’d go with with more vibrant, warmer color, and better exposure of the AF2. The CM picture looks a little underexposed, colors are a little dull (but maybe the more realistic color).

The only problem is when there is less light (like indoors), the white balance gets on the really warm side (yellowish color). The same thing happens on my Canon DSLR, but i can adjust the white balance on my DSLR. May be there’s white balance manual setting in the AF2? Of course, you can fix it after taking the shot (post-processing) but who wants to do that?

  8. common sense lang ang kailangan yung sa af2 talaga ang mas maganda, hindi normal ang sa cm, panget. dapat ibaba pa nila ang presyo ng flare4, tas bibili na ako 🙂 orayt

  9. From what i noticed, both comparison photos are interpolated photos. If there are less details in the picture especially if you zoom and the pics look watery like an oil pastel painting – means their 13 mp camera is just really an interpolated 8 megapixel.

  10. Cm actually had real colors if compared to af2. Af2 photos only looked good because they are oversaturated. But if you want realistic colors, go for cm. You can just enhance photos anyway with a photo editor later. With cm, you get realistic colors. With af2, you get oversaturated colors. If cm somehow had an amoled screen, dull but real colors will get high saturation. If af2 had amoled screen and if its camera already had high saturation, photos will get an abrnormal punch in colors. Oversaturated original plus another oversaturation of the display. So if you are into photography and an enthusiast… Cm actually is ideal. If you don’t edit photos, go for af2 because you will get an edited photo color just after you click the camera.
