Deja Vu?

In June last year Samsung announced the Z, which was supposed to be the company’s first ever smartphone running on their homebrewed Tizen OS. We say supposed to be because it was quietly killed a few months later, and never saw the light of day. A few days ago Samsung again announced, and finally launched their first commercially available Tizen-powered smartphone, the Z1 which has taken a hit in the hardware department compared to the Samsung Z.

  • 1.2GHz dual-core processor
  • 768MB of RAM
  • 4-inch PLS TFT display, 480 x 800 resolution
  • 4GB of storage, expandable via microSD up to microSD
  • 3.15-megapixel rear camera with flash
  • VGA front camera
  • Dual-SIM
  • 3G
  • WiFI, GPS, A-GPS, Bluetooth
  • Tizen 2.3 OS
  • 1500mAh battery

The Z1 will be hitting the Indian subcontinent first, lugging a price tag of INR 5,700, which comes out to Php 4083.
