Samsung Went All Out With This One

Samsung President JK Shin wasn’t kidding when he said that “Relentless Innovation” was their philosophy when they were building the Galaxy S6 Edge. Unlike their recent releases which felt more like minor upgrades, the Galaxy S6 Edge is a complete redesign and a big step forward. The build, features, and supporting ecosystem makes the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge potential game changers in the premium Android smartphone category. To better illustrate our point, we put together our top 5 reasons why we believe that the Galaxy S6 Edge is a killer flagship and you can check them out below. ๐Ÿ™‚

Fast and Crazy Good Camera

The whole world loves taking photos and selfies and the Galaxy S6 Edge will bring your “Selfie Game” to the next level. The front facing camera of the Galaxy S6/S6 Edge has an F1.9 aperture which means it can absorb more light (better in low light). It also has real time HDR (a world first) and a Low Light Shot Mode. The Low Light Show mode takes a bunch of photos and the Galaxy S6/S6 Edge uses all of them to create a better lit pic.

The primary rear camera packs the same low light capabilities plus a 16MP shooter and OIS Auto Focus.

Samsung was so proud of their new camera that they did a comparison of shots taken with the iPhone 6 Plus and the Galaxy S6. Check out the difference between the two photos below. Both were taken in low light condition.

Lastly, you can bring up the camera up very quickly (less than 1 second) just by double tapping the home button.

Amazing Metal Body with Dual-Curved Display

One of the obvious biggest improvements is the hardware. The dual-curved glass combined with the full metal chassis oozes sexiness. We put together a short and simple video to give you guys a better idea of what the phone is all about.

Cleaner and Faster User Interface

Touchwiz, Samsung’s custom ROM, has gotten tons of criticism for having too much bloatware and unnecessary notifications and alerts. They took all of that out with the new ROM that ships with the S6/S6 Edge. It actually looks a whole lot more like Google’s Material Design now.

Fast Charging

Fast charging FTW!
Fast charging FTW!

Samsung started this feature with the Galaxy Note 4 and now they’ve refined it and included it as a killer feature in the S6 and S6 Edge. According to Samsung, their new devices will get a full charge in half the time the iPhone 6 Plus gets it. That’s a pretty bold statement! Apparently for every 10 minutes of charging you can get up to 4 hours of use. This is a very welcome “upgrade” since you can easily top up your phone’s battery throughout the day by quick 15-20 minute charges.

Ridiculously Good Display

Beautiful.
Beautiful.
Last, but definitely not the least, we have the display. The Galaxy S6 Edge packs a 5.1-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display. That’s roughly 577 pixels per inch, the most we’ve ever seen in a quality flagship smartphone. Combine that with the dual curved edges and you have a gorgeous phone that becomes even prettier when it’s turned on. ๐Ÿ˜›

  1. Seriously? There’s nothing eerily new in this phone besides the curved edges on the Edge 6. 3gb RAM? Asus just released a 4gb version. 3gb was the standard of yesteryear. 2550mah unremovable? YOU HAVE A QUAD HD AS A DISPLAY AND YOU’RE GONNA PUT A 2.5k battery? (Btw, ridiculously good display, lol LG G3 already had a quad hd last year and it was 5.5″ but still felt like a 5″ phone.) unexpandable storage? every samsung fanboy craved a larger internal with still an option to expand storage, not choose between 3 variants. fast charging? Oppo already did that, and they did it so well. Cleaner UI? hahahaha it’s TouchWiz, since when did TouchWiz became related to anything Clean UI? Another thing, the edge of the S6 Edge doesn’t even have the same capabilities as the Note 4. It really is just there for looks and better swipe response. And because of that, this phone will be harder to protect since there is virtually no bezels on the side, thus no option for a thick case.

Samsung’s S6 has iPhone design philosophy written on it while at the same time, copying the Xperia line’s back to back glass display. Samsung took it to the next level with the world’s best 2014 spec’d phone, and to be released by Q2 of 2015, lol this phone is a joke, the Galaxy Note should be the flagship, not this laughable piece of crap.

    1. 3GB of RAM yeateryear’s standard? How many smartphones featured 3GB last year? My Note 4 has 3GB and I haven’t felt the need for more since day one. Never experienced any lag due to insufficient RAM.

2550mAh non-removable battery for the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. If you watched the Unpacked event, they said that the 14nm processor powering these phones is more energy efficient than the 20nm inside the Note 4. So even with a Quad HD display, these phones could still survive up to 2 days of normal use. The RAM used is also a new tech wich is also more energy efficient and faster that others.Plus, it has wireless charging built right in and the fastest quick charging technology to date. You can charge the phone for 10 minutes and use it for an additional 4 hours.

TouchWiz. The blogger said cleaner UI, not clean UI. If you really read the article, he compared the new TouchWiz with its previous versions. Less bloatware and more aligned with Google’s material design.

Harder to protect. This phone features Gorrila Glass 4 on both the front and the back, not to mention the alluminum frame. This phone is not unbreakable but it would take more than a few drops to Break it. Plus, people who could afford to buy these phones wouldn’t want to use a thick case with these. They shouldn’t worry about breaking it beacause even if they do break it, they could just buy a new one. At least that’s what I would do. Also, Samsung will be releasing their own cases specially designes for these phones.

iPhone design. With this form factor, it’s not hard to make a phone with metal frames and make it look like an iPhone. Yes, it does resemble an iPhone but only if you look at it from the bottom. They didn’t copy Xperia’s back to back display. Xperias don’t have displays on the back. Neither do these phones. Xperias aren’t the only phones and definitely not the first phones to have glass panels on the back.

I’m not a Samsung fanboy. I have a Samsung and an Apple device and use both as my daily drivers. I commend Samsung for comming up with this phone. It is the most premium looking Samsung phone I’ve ever seen. It may be a poece of crap to you but I’d still buy it when it’s officially release here.

      1. @Nagmamagaling pinatulan mo pa talaga.. Halata namang di nya napanood yung presentation lol.. Di nya nga ata alam na both S saka Note series ay flagship ng Samsung.. I have a note 3 with 3 gb of ram din and until now wala pa akong nakikitang issue, more than a year na sakin ang phone.. Alam kong walang masyadong optimization pa for battery ang note 3 pero sakto padin naman for daily use kumusta naman tong mga bagong release nila na may battery optimization.. I had lots of brand na dumaan sakin nokia, apple, sony, lg saka htc pero for now samsung muna ako and I have my personal reasons..

  2. Kakapanood ko lang ng replay ng live stream nila.. halos Koreans na lahat ng presentor isa nalang ata ang hindi.. super ganda ng phone internally at externally Note 5 ang next update ko at super excited na ako lol.. s6 is a super jump from s5 wala pa akong nakikitang mas gaganda pa sa phone na to as a whole phone..
