Samsung’s Half Terabyte MicroSD Card is Now Official

It comes with a really steep price

Move over SanDisk: after it was teased together with the Galaxy Note 9, Samsung has made official its Evo Plus 512GB MicroSD card. The biggest MicroSD card capacity right now, Samsung’s offering claims to store 24 hours of 4K UHD content, over 150,000 photos, and over 77,000 music files.

With read and write speeds of up to 100mb/s, Samsung claims that you can copy a 3GB 4K video file in 38 seconds—which is roughly the same speed with HyperX’s Gaming MicroSD card and SanDisk’s Extreme MicroSD cards.

Having that much storage in a tiny memory card comes at a price: aside from only a few devices supporting memory card capacities this large, the 512GB Evo Plus MicroSD card sells for 289.90 Euros, or around Php 17,700 when converted. For reference, that’s the same price when SanDisk unveiled their 200GB MicroSD card back in 2015.
