Sony’s newest phones also have dual-SIM variants

You’d think Sony would take it easy after a very successful CES. You’d be wrong. The company just made two new smartphones official: the T2 Ultra phablet, and the music-centric Xperia E1 with LTE. Let’s take a quick look at their specs:

Sony Xperia E1

  • 1.2 GHz dual core processor
  • 512MB RAM
  • 4GB storage
  • 4-inch WVGA display 480 x 800 pixels
  • 3-megapixel camera
  • GSM, 3G, HSPA
  • 1750 mAh battery

As you can see, the Xperia T2 Ultra’s large 6-inch display puts it squarely in phablet territory. And even though Sony is looking to release this phablet in emerging markets, it has premium phone specs – 1.4Ghz Snapdragon quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM and LTE. Sony’s also throwing in a couple of camera apps to compliment the 13-megapixel camera with Exmor RS for mobile inside the Xperia T2 Ultra.

The Xperia E1 on the other hand, is aimed at music lovers everywhere, thanks to the 100Db speaker inside it. Yes, folks, you read that right – a speaker capable of pumping out 100Db of sound. To put that in perspective, 100Db of sound is equivalent to a chain saw, pneumatic drill, jackhammer and some car horns at around five meters. Aside from the loud speaker, the Xperia E1 will also have Sony’s patented Walkman controls, as well as a 30 day pass for Sony’s Entertainment Network music streaming service (if it’s available).

Both the Xperia T2 Ultra and the Xperia E1 will have dual-SIM versions as well. No word on pricing or availability as of yet.
