Specs For Google’s Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL Leaks

Here’s what you can expect from Google’s next flagship

Google’s unveil of the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL is a few days away, but Android Authority has received more information on the hardware that’s supposed to be powering the two flagships when they’re unveiled a week from now.

According to AA’s source, the Pixel 2 XL will sport hardware that’s befitting of a flagship phone when it’s launched, sporting Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor, with a choice of either 64GB or 128GB of storage. Rumors of the curved screen on the larger Pixel looks to be true, as their source reveals that the phone will carry a curved QHD panel that will give the device a screen-to-body ratio of around 80-85%.

As for audio, the Pixel 2 XL will apparently not have a 3.5mm jack, though that particular design choice is softened somewhat with the inclusion of stereo speakers and USB Type-C headphones.

Interestingly, the Pixel 2 XL will come with an eSIM, which is similar to the one used on the Apple Watch. An eSIM is an electronic SIM card that is provisioned by a telco, which does away with the need for a bigger, physical SIM card. If this is true, then Google is beating Apple to the punch in terms of stuffing an eSIM into a phone since Apple has been one of the biggest advocates of eSIMs, first patenting the tech back in 2012.

Other features of the Pixel 2 XL include water and dust resistance via an IP67 rating, Gorilla Glass 5 and overall battery capacity of 3,520mAh.

The spec sheet is also pretty similar for the smaller Pixel 2. The phone will not have a 3.5mm jack like its bigger brother, and instead will be fitted with stereo speakers. The screen will use a regular full HD IPS display, will come in either 64 or 128GB capacities and have a smaller 2700mAh battery. It’ll still be IP67 rated and will use an eSIM just like the Pixel 2 XL.
