Starmobile Diamond finally shows itself to the public!

Several tech blogs have already started writing about Starmobile’s newest smartphone, the Starmobile Diamond. We were actually able to get a hands-on with this device a few days ago when we visited Starmobile’s HQ. It’s definitely their newest flagship offering since it packs pretty impressive specifications in a slim and sezzy chassis. We’ll post our initial review over the weekend but for today we just want to share with you guys the spec sheet.

Starmobile Diamond Spec Sheet

We haven’t confirmed the price yet but it’s most like within the Php9,500-Php10,000 range. It should be more expensive than the Flirt since it has better specs. As soon as we get word we’ll update this post.

UPDATE: We’ve gotten several reports saying that units are actually on display in some stores (Robinson’s) and that the SRP is Php9,990.

  1. i don’t see why would anyone purchased this for 2k more over the cherry mobile omega hd which has almost the same specs. this has nothing substantial that is worth 2k more.

  2. well, seems like they will start to roll out 12MP camera in the mainstream. Hope it will offer lesser price in the next few weeks or month. I guess, Cherry Mobile will launch with the same specs with a much “pang-masa” price. By the way, kudos to Star Mobile for a very nice specs similar to the other known brand, yet half the price πŸ™‚

  3. I hope this phone performs better in benchmarks than it’s CM rival omega hd. If not, this phone will be a hardsell.

  4. Fans of Starmobile will purchase this, because of customer support, we’ve experienced bringing a B203 Unit to their service center in Monumento, and they serviced it right away and fixed the keyboard problem in less than 30 mins, no long lines like the CM service center because they have so many products on the market already.

  5. Kung makaarte ang starmobile kala mo branded. Consumer will choose CM over this I think. Its not a very wise move to increase the price while competitors with same specs are lowering theirs.

  6. From what I read somewhere, the suffix “H” in Mediatek 6577H means something. The chip is overclocked to 1.2Ghz and the GPU is SGX31 ultra. It is more expensive than the regular 6577 chip. But 6577T in Lenovo S890 is the most expensive in the series because of being native 1.2Ghz. The H might give 1000 more points in Antutu. Abangan.

  7. the only way for people to buy this over the CM omega hd @10k srp is if it comes bundle with a power bank and jellycase. lols

  8. mr. carlo, pls recommend me a smartphone that is lower that 10k with good quality and specs, esp. the cameras. pls reply. i am planning to buy one that has good quality. high hopes 4 ur reply sir! πŸ™‚

  9. Hmm, in paper it looks like CM OHD is the better phone compared to SM Diamond, however, I’m thinking of still getting SM Diamond over CM OHD. After sales of CM OHD is really stressful. I know people will tell me that it depends on how you actually use and take care of your phone but what if you got some factory defect which is out of your control? You have to get on the long line and wait for a long time before you can get a replacement unit? I don’t know but for me I would spend a lil’ bit more cash in exchange for a better service. Still, I’m a bit thorn on what to choose between CM and SM.. :\ I would love to read some more reviews regarding HD gaming (hardcore gamer here), bugs, multi-touch response, GPS accuracy, etc. before we can tell who’s the better of the two. Right now, CM on-paper is the best here but take a look at the LA Lakers for example, they are a great team on paper but when in the actual they they kinda suck. (Sorry LA fans :D)

Also I noticed in the specs sheet that the proc for SM is MTK6577H and enhanced SGXS31 GPU? Is this different from the CM one? CM proc doesn’t have an H and also the ‘enhanced’ word is omitted in the GPU. Does this mean something? Thanks in advance to those who will answer. πŸ™‚ I’ll google it too and post here if I find anything interesting.

  10. Guys, check this out.

“The source distinction MTK6577T with MTK6577H network

MTK6577 initial version of the A version, there is a follow-up MT6577T and MT6577H are dual-core 1.2G, but only 6577H supports HD resolution screen, 6577T does not support high-definition screen, only supports QHD and below the screen, this is the biggest difference.
In addition, this is not a little bit of difference, a big difference, ask the 6577 chip manufacturers are doing know, if you want to force on the HD screen, even if made ??products to, that is a great tragedy! So, good product, non-6577H not!

    MTK6577H Detailed:
    Key Features
    :1.0-1 .2 G Cortex A9 dual-core CPU frequency
GPU: PowerVR SGX531 overclocked version supports HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) mirroring support resolution of 720 * 1280 HD
(Note: This is the official data given real test, does not support most of 1080P video playback) support 1080p/30fps video recording and playback, supports up to 800W camera, dual camera support high resolution 720P can be used Tablet PC process with 40-nanometer Dolby 5.1 surround sound stereo 3D capture and playback integrated 3G mobile broadband connectivity to support single-mode HSPA + network, download speeds up to 14 Mbps, and upload speeds of up to 5.6Mbps, support GSM, GPRS and EDGE
Built-in eighth-generation GPS engine with independent GPS and assisted GPS mode supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity support dual card dual standby (W + G)”

Take note, this is taken on a chinese website/forum that is just google-translated thus the quirky grammar. Deciphering the statement above, it seems SM Diamond proc is superior vs the CM Omega HD.
