We weren’t expecting it honestly
After Redmi unveiled the Redmi Note 7 a few days back, the midrange phone has been the talk of the town. We’re not surprised: for under Php 8k (when converted), you get a 48-megapixel camera, USB-C, and a Snapdragon 660 processor—all of which are found in more expensive phones.
If that wasn’t enough, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun revealed that the Redmi Note 7 has watertight seals for all the weak points of the handset, from the SIM tray to the loudspeaker.
While the Redmi Note 7 does not have an official IP rating, these seals should give owners some peace of mind in case of accidental water splashes. For reference, the OPPO R17 Pro and OnePlus 6/6T have similar watertight seals, but cost more than 3x the asking price of the Redmi Note 7.
This feature further cements the Redmi Note 7 as a bang-for-the-buck phone and potential 2019 mid-range killer. To further prove that the Redmi Note 7 is durable, Redmi is offering an 18-month warranty for the Redmi Note 7 in China.
