The SanDisk Extreme Pro USB 3.1 Thumb Drive Promises SSD Transfer Speeds

SanDisk is at itĀ again with a new, record-pushing portable storage device – the Extreme Pro USB 3.1 thumb drive which features SSD-level transfer and read speeds. It’s important to note that SanDisk is referring to SATA SSD speeds here, as the newer M.2 drives are crazily faster than the former.

According to SanDisk, the Extreme Pro USB 3.1 offers read speeds of up to 420MB/s and write speeds of up to 380MB/s – well within SATA SSD ratings. You can transfer a full 4K movie in around 15 seconds with that kind of throughput.

SanDisk’s new wonder comes in an aluminum casing with the usual retractable connector. It also packs SanDisk’s proprietary SecureAccess and RescuePro Deluxe software for added file encryption and file retrieval.

The SanDisk Extreme Pro USB 3.1 will come in 128GB and 256GB flavors, with the larger model pegged at an MSRP of $180 (~Php 9K). Other online stores currently advertising the thumb drive have priced it at a lower $130 to $140 (~Php 7K), though. We’ll find out the going price when it officially launches later this month.
