Once You Go Black…
Vivo has been on the hunt for the selfie crown ever since they released the V5 a couple of months back, with the added salvo of the dual front camera equipped V5 Plus. A few weeks back, we reviewed its updated version — the Vivo V5s — that saw it get a tiny bump in its internal storage so you can keep more of your selfies and download more apps on the device.
We’re used to seeing a certain design language from the Chinese company, which is Apple-esque in nature, with a white front face and a metal unibody back that’s either in a Gold or Rose Gold color variant. Today, they announced the newest color variant of the Vivo V5S — Matte Black — to the delight of those who may have been looking for a more masculine colored phone to take “perfect selfies” with.
A reminder of its specs, in case you need a refresher.

Internally, nothing has changed with the V5S but we definitely prefer it in Matte Black. Be warned though, it can be a bit of a fingerprint magnet if you’re going to use it without the included silicon case. If you’ve been thinking about getting the Vivo V5s, but have been on the fence because of the color variants — you might want to take a peek at it now at one of their many kiosks scattered in malls across Metro Manila. The Vivo V5s in Matte Black retains its price tag of Php 14,990.
