Top Tier Zenfone 3 Deluxe Debuts With $780 Price Tag, Snapdragon 821 Processor

Before the local launch of the Zenfone 3, ASUS is first releasing their new family of smartphones in their home country of Taiwan first. Yesterday saw them officially release the Zenfone 3, Zenfone 3 Ultra and Zenfone 3 Deluxe in Taiwan, and with them local pricing that will become a yardstick for the phone’s official pricing once they arrive on our shores.

ASUS Zenfone 3 Deluxe specs

  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor/Snapdragon 821 processor
  • 4GB/6GB of RAM
  • 5.7-inch full HD AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass protection, 1920 x 1080 resolution
  • 32GB/64GB/128GB storage, expandable via microSD card
  • 23-megapixe rear camera, Sony IMX318 sensor, 6-element lens, laser AF, PDAF
  • 8-megapixel front facing camera
  • Dual SIM
  • 3G, LTE
  • WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, A-GPS, USB Type-C, Fingerprint scanner
  • Android 6.0 Marshmallow, ZenUI 3.0
  • 3000mAh battery

While there’s no surprises for the Zenfone 3 and the Zenfone 3 Ultra as far as specs go, there’s one little surprise for the Zenfone 3 Deluxe – apparently the top of the line model of the new device comes with Qualcomm’s newest Snapdragon chip, the Snapdragon 821, instead of the Snapdragon 820 SoC that the other two Zenfone 3 Deluxe variants get.

To recap, there’s three versions of the Zenfone 3 Deluxe – a 32GB/4GB, 64GB/6GB and a top end 256GB/6GB. The new processor brings a slightly higher clock speed at 2.4GHz and an Adreno 530 GPU.

Aside from the slight processor bump, all of the variants of the Zenfone 3 Deluxe get the same specs overall: 5.7-inch full HD AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass protection, 23-megapixe, Sony IMX318 rear camera with laser AF and PDAF, USB Type-C, fingerprint scanner and Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

As far as pricing goes ASUS has pegged the price of the base model Zenfone 3 Deluxe at $500, or Php 23.6K while the 64GB/6GB version is priced at Php 26.4K. The top-of-the-line, Snapdragon 821 toting, 128GB/6GB version is set to retail for $780, or around Php 36.8K. Just remember this is the direct conversion of the prices as launched in Taiwan – PH pricing may be a little different because of importation taxes and freight.

  1. wow, they really have gone far from the highly successful zenfone 5 because of its good specs at a very competitive price.

  2. What made the ZF series successful was the value for money factor. Now these here will have to fight off established Samsung, Huawei etc…

  3. eto problema sa mga up-and-coming brands. magbebenta ng bang-for-the-buck para maka-gain ng fanbase, pag kilala na, tataasan na ang price. sorry, pero kung magbabayad din naman ako lagpas Php25k, (this is 37k converted) sa established brands na ko bibili. specs arent everything once you get past a certain price, quality and customer support are important too.

  4. Asus should have sticked to the mid-range market just like their success with Zenfone 5. Snapdragon 652, 5.5 inch screen, 4000 mah battery.

  5. Just to let u know guys, NOT ALL Zenfone 3 Deluxe models has an option for us to avail either the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor ONLY the 256GB model is equipped with this very latest processor, rest of the deluxe models are on 820 processor. Based on Qualcomm’s specs, the 821 model is 10 percent more power efficient and its around 5 to 10 percent more faster than the 820 model, the 821 model is the same processor that we’ll be all seeing on the much awaited Samsung Note 7, IMO its not worth buying the 256gb model, the 820 alone is efficient enough for any hi end android fone and with a 3,000mah battery the zenfone 3 deluxe would look like it has a 4,000mah equipped battery bcoz of this processor’s efficiency, PLUS the added power saving and redesigned app memory utilization of the new android 6.0.1 version that the zenfone 3 is running with. ?

  6. Please take note that they have 3 models units to release: Zenfone 3, Zenfone 3 Ultra and Zenfone Deluxe. The article is talking about the Zenfone 3 DELUXE. DELUXE is their flagship and it’s no mid-ranger. Try to compare it with other phones with Snapdragon 820 and 4GB RAM for the base model and check their prices. I’m not sure though if the upgrade to SD 821 and additional 64GB ROM is enough for the price difference from that of the 820 variant.

Now, if a midrange unit is what you’re looking, there’s the Zenfone 3 with Snapdragon 652 and 3 or 4 GB of RAM.

    1. Zenfone 3 is just Snapdragon 625. It’s the Zenfone 3 Ultra that will use Snap 652 (to compete with Xiaomi Mi Max I guess).

Sablay Asus on this part, they should have used Snap 652 on the Zenfone 3 since 5.5 inches is the sweet spot for screen sizes right now.

  7. Ayaw ko na bumili nang flagship from asus. Until now Zenfone 2 ZE551ML still has no 6.0 update.
    imagine that on the ZF3.
