New tricks for an old phone
While Vivo’s entry-level Y53 is roughly a year old and is due for a new model anytime soon, it gets a new update adding Face ID as an additional security feature for the phone. The new feature makes use of the Y53’s 5-megapixel front camera in order to unlock your phone using face data captured by it.
The update is much-needed for the Y53, as it does not have a built-in fingerprint scanner. To recap, the Y53 sports a Snapdragon 425 processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, and an 8-megapixel rear camera.
The update can be obtained via OTA, and weighs in at around 70MB.
