Ultra-affordable LTE!
When you talk about affordable LTE-capable phones, you’re usually talking about phones that retail around 5-7K. It’s hard to imagine a phone that would retail under 5K that has LTE connectivity AND an HD display. Well, apparently that can be done, as evidenced by Doogee’s upcoming X5 smartphone that boasts a HD display and LTE capability for just $49.99, or around 2.2K!
Full specs of the new phone hasn’t been released yet, but Doogee’s saying that the X5 will come with MediaTek’s MT6580 quad-core processor, exclusively made available to them, along with a 5-inch HD IPS display, 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2200mAh battery. The basic, non-LTE variant will have the MT6580 processor, and 512MB of RAM, while the 4G version will ship with a MT6735 processor and possibly 1GB of RAM.
Doogee is launching the X5 in August in China, though if you’re feeling adventurous you can probably get one via online stores once it’s available for purchase. We’re hoping a local brand is reading this and gets this phone, as a sub 5K LTE capable phone that has an HD display would probably be a great coup if released locally.
