It’s looking to make its phones take better photos
Xiaomi might be known for budget phones with really great specs, but images produced by their phones aren’t exactly the best compared to their competitors, the Mi Mix 2s notwithstanding. That’s something that they’re aware of, and to combat it Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun will be creating an in-house camera division.
An internal email sent out by the CEO confirms the creation of the new division, though it’ll be months, even years, before we see the fruits of their labor. Xiaomi’s upcoming Mi 7 flagship probably won’t benefit from the new division because of how development times for smartphones work, but we could see vastly improved camera performance from Xiaomi’s mid-range and entry-level devices from them once it’s up and running.
