It might be used on the Mi MIX 4
With Huawei and OPPO leading the pack for incorporating periscope solutions for a higher optical zoom range, Xiaomi is reportedly working on their own version.
This is confirmed by a filing made at China’s State Intellectual Property Office last July 2. Based on the documents, Xiaomi’s solution involves a main lens module and an auxiliary lens placed perpendicular to it. The design aims to provide a high zoom range while keeping the phone as thin as possible.
It is speculated that Xiaomi will be using the periscope camera for the upcoming Mi MIX 4, which is rumored to have a 64-megapixel main camera.
