Xiaomi’s Redmi 7 Has A Stand-by Time Of 18 Days

That’s pretty impressive

If you’re on the fence about purchasing Xiaomi’s Redmi 7 from stores when it becomes available on April 19, don’t be. Xiaomi’s upcoming budget powerhouse isn’t just loaded with powerful tech, it apparently has an extremely efficient battery that can stretch the phone’s overall battery life.

To test the phone’s overall standby time, Xiaomi ran a live broadcast on Weibo to gauge the phone’s battery endurance. The live broadcast, watched by around 28 million people, asked its viewers to guess how long the phone’s final stand-by time would be. Out of the literal millions that watched the broadcast, only 205 people managed to guess the correct number when all was said and done.

The Redmi 7 was found to have a standby time of around 18 days or 435 hours. To put that in perspective, the Redmi Note 7 has a standby time of 251 hours on its 4000mAh battery. While the Redmi 7 has the same battery capacity than its older brother, Xiaomi packed the phone with a new graphite negative electrode in its battery pack to help conserve battery life. Xiaomi also added power optimizations to maintain lower battery temperature and power consumption to stretch the phones’ legs.

The Redmi 7 will be sold in the Philippines come April 19 and will be available exclusively to Shopee. Pricing starts at Php 5,890 for the 2GB/16GB variant and Php 6,490 for the 3GB/32GB variant.
