More choices for consumers
ASUS’ Zenfone 2 is one of the most hotly anticipated smartphones in recent memory, and it seems that ASUS is going to be making numerous versions of the upcoming smartphone. Asustek CEO Jerry Shen has said during an interview that they will be making both Qualcomm and MediaTek versions of the upcoming smartphone.
The Qualcomm version of the Zenfone 2 will be priced lower than the Intel-based one, and will be targeted at the mid-range market. An even more affordable version will be powered by MediaTek’s low-cost processors and will remove LTE for markets like India.
The Qualcomm version of the Zenfone 2 will be released in Q2, while the MediaTek version will be released in the latter half of 2015.
