The past few days have been a whirlwind of emotions for prospective Pokemon trainers in Asia. After being barraged by rumors that Niantic, the developer for Pokemon Go, was prepping for an Asia launch, the PR firm of the company felt compelled to dispel the rumor of an imminent Asian launch once and for all.
“The team is currently heads down working on the game. We do not have any announced plans for countries beyond New Zealand, Australia, US and Germany at the moment.”
Chris Kramer, Vice President
This means that there will be no Asian or wider European launch of the game in the next few weeks. Weirdly enough this announcement also includes Japan, which is the birthplace of the Anime that started it all.
Now if you’ll excuse us, we need some time to grieve with our Pikachu plushie.
