You can only read conversations from Facebook Group chat feature starting August 22
Facebook is streamlining its apps yet again, this time focusing on Facebook Groups. In its announcement, Facebook said that all existing conversations in groups will be read-only starting August 22.
To clarify, Facebook’s announcement only affects the chat feature on Facebook Group and not group messages under Messenger—that includes friends or anyone you are connected with via Messenger’s group chat.
One of the reasons why Facebook removed the group chat feature on Facebook groups is that the social platform wants to reduce spammers and unsolicited messages within the whole Facebook ecosystem.
Facebook is currently exploring alternatives to Facebook Group Chat as of this writing.
