Facebook Will Allow Live Video Streaming To Any Device

Even a drone

Facebook knows that video is the way forward, and during their F8 conference earlier today the company rolled out plans that will allow almost any device that’s capable of recording video and uploading it to use their Live video streaming service. The company is now opening up their Live API so that anyone can build an app that takes advantage of the Live video streaming.

That means that Live video Streaming will no longer be relegated to just smartphones – camera manufacturers and even drone creators can now bake in the ability to live stream to Facebook if they wished. Which is exactly what DJI did with their new Phantom 4 aerial drone, which is now receiving an update that allows its operator to broadcast live images directly into Facebook.

Mevo, a unique camera that’s used for live streaming, can now upload video directly into Facebook and has some pretty clever software tricks up its sleeve, mimicking the work of a studio right on your phone.
