PLDT and Smart’s strategic partnership and investment with on-demand streaming service iFlix is finally starting to blossom. Smart subscribers get a Php30 discount on the monthly subscription fee for iFlix (they only have to pay Php99 instead of Php129). This lets users have unlimited access to thousands of hours of on-demand video streaming of TV shows and movies with no ads on their smartphones, tablets, computers, or laptops. This is a pretty sweet offer because iFlix’ catalogue of movies and TV series has improved drastically since they first announced their services as few months ago.

Here are some of our top picks of TV shows in iFlix’ catalogue as of this writing:

  • Friends (All 10 Seasons)
  • Agents of SHIELD (2 Seasons)
  • Glee (5 Seasons)
  • Doctor Who (Seasons 6 & 7)
  • Modern Family (Seasons 1-4)
  • Scandal (4 Seasons)
  • Sherlock (Seasons 1-2)
  • The Mentalist (Seasons 1-6)

They also have a variety of movies ranging from action, sci-fi, comedy, drama, etc. Among the top titles are the movies from Marvel including Iron Man, Thor, and Blade. We highly encourage that you guys check them out. You can even test the service at no cost since they have a free trial offer going on.

This new offering was recently announced via Smart’s new Smart Life campaign. You can read more about it here.

  1. Good for Smart and iFlix. But hot tip – stream over WiFi.

Episodes – an SD copy of a single ‘Arrow’ episode (iFlix carries ‘Arrow’) on Torrent is about 250MB; 720P is already 1 full GB – are taxing to the mobile data caps Smart introduced recently; 1GB a day, on top of their new Surf Plus and Turbo Plans…

  2. I like the idea that iFlix is affordable considering that that the monthly subscription is less than USD 3.00. This will somehow lessen the people who download illegally the shows like via P2P (torrent).

But the problem I have is that our mobile networks are imposing bandwidth caps in mobile Internet. And as we know, videos are bandwidth heavy. Also, our mobile internet in the Philippines are not that stable (depending on the location) which means that there’ll be more time buffering which interrupts the viewing experience.

Which is why I still think that it is better to download first the video then view it offline where you don’t need any internet connection.

  3. How can I pay the subscription in iflix using smart? Do I need to have a bank account or do I just go to a store and pay it, like 7 eleven or cebuana? Please respond, im only 17 and im still not working so I dont have the credit cards but I can afford to pay it. Tell me how…
