Superman 1/6th Scale Figure from Man of Steel by Hot Toys

A few weeks ago we featured our first 1/6th scale figure from the Man of Steel movie, Jor-El as portrayed by Russell Crowe. We’re happy to share that after weeks of looking vigorously for a good deal on the newest Man of Steel figure to hit the market, Superman himself, we were finally able to get one!

Henry Cavill, is that you?

As expected Hot Toys was able to deliver a head sculpt with stunning likeness to Henry Cavill. As you can see they got all the details from the facial structure, eyes, nose, lips, and even the wavy hair. They also paid attention to the smallest things like the wrinkles, flaws, and skin tone. Among all the Hot Toys figures we’ve collected, this is definitely one of the top head sculpts we’ve seen in terms of faithfulness to the actor/actress.

Hopefully more third party sculptors seize this opportunity to offer head sculpts with different facial expressions. That would definitely make the figure more posable and customizable. It’s kinda hard to do action shots with the cold facial expression in the default head sculpt.

The Suit and Body Type is Perfect!

Hot Toys was also able to do justice to the body and body suit of the Man of Steel. The body structure is ripped and muscled, definitely with minimal body fat (lol). The arms and legs are perfectly toned and the chest is just right (not too bulky but not to small either).

For the suit, they remained faithful to the design of the suit in the movie. It’s the same dominantly textured blue suit with the “S” (Hope) logo at the middle. There are some patterns along the arms and near the waist. They also kept his black bracers and red leather boots.

If there’s one complaint we have it’s with the cape. The material is okay but it’s kinda hard to pose. The cape that they used for Jor-El was actually better since it had a wire frame along the edges making it easy for posing. The only way you can pose the cape here is if you have pins, wires, or a fan.

Fortunately the only thing hard to pose is the cape. Everything else is good. The body has over 30 points of articulation and you can easily copy the famous Superman poses (flight, fighting stance, etc).

Dynamic Stand with Superman Logo Base is The Best!

The base stand that comes with Superman is arguably one of the best stands ever made for Hot Toys. The base has the “S” logo in blue, red, and yellow (diamond shaped). There’s also a name plate at the front (edge of the diamond base). The rod is flexible, very similar to the one used in the Dynamic Stand. You can bend the rod in different ways which lets you pose Superman is a variety of stances. We actually found it weird that Jor-El also came with a similar stand since we never actually saw him fly in the movie, lol.

Comes with Kryptonian Command Keys!

There were also two extra freebies in the box. We got a 1/6th scale Kryptonian Command Key and a full scale one (6cm long). This is the key that enabled Jor-El to make a sudden appearance in the ship with the Genesis Pods and later on in the ship of General Zod. This accessory is nice and all but I don’t think people will actually us it with Superman in their poses, lol. Maybe when they come out with a Lois Lane 1/6th figure?

Two Thumbs Up! Definitely a Must-Have!

Hot Toys did justice to the Man of Steel with this figure. Everything from the head sculpt, body type, body suit, articulation, and even the base were all topnotch. It’s definitely a must-have for any toy collector, especially if you’re a Superman fan.

There are still some stores in Greenhills that sell this figure and currently the going rate is anywhere from Php11,000-Php13,000. You can find more affordable options online though. Just go through the different PH toy collector groups.
