In this digital age, publishing your work is more accessible than ever. With online reading platforms here and there, it is easy to get your literary work to be noticed by fellow bookworms. Ebook platform Webnovel is the latest app that caters as a global literary hub.
Created in 2017, Webnovel started off as an overseas portal for Chinese Literature, a literature platform that consists of more than 10 million digital works hosted 7.3 million authors. Chinese TV dramas such as Fighter of the Destiny, Martial Universe and The Rise of Phoenixes are based on Chinese Literature’s intellectual property (IP).
Other features of Webnovel include a diversified interactive community service, incentives for authors, and the opportunity for authors to have their works go beyond the pages, ie. be used as a source of content for movies and TV series. To date, Webnovel has over 9,000 original English works, along with over 5,000 original authors on the portal.
In efforts to expand its market, Webnovel held a fan meeting in Manila last November 24, where it discussed the creation and translation of Webnovel narratives to Filipino fans and authors. This is part of Webnovel’s goal to bring more value to authors and readers worldwide through high-quality web novels and an excellent reading experience.
