You Can Make Google Duo Calls To People Who Don’t Have The App

It’s restricted to just Android though

Love using Google Duo and want to use it to call a buddy to spread the gospel? Well, apparently Google now allows users of the Google Duo app to call people who don’t have the app installed.

First noticed by a sharp-eyed Reddit user, people who have the app will apparently be able to reach out and call people in their contact list who don’t have the app installed, who can then use the app as if they’ve installed it on their phone. From what people have experienced, it looks like there’s no restriction on the functionality of the app on the person who was called, though obviously they’ll need to install Google Duo to call back.

The magic is made possible by Google’s App Preview Messaging that was introduced back in 2016, and only Android users can use it. People are also reporting that not everyone that has Android will be able to use the app preview feature, as there’s a currently unknown restriction to the app.
